DRESS REHEARSAL - MARCH 14TH

All jazz students need to attend the dress rehearsal on Saturday March 14th at Alta Canyon Recreation Center (9400 S. 2000 E.) from 1:00-2:30. All five classes will come "performance ready" and take turns performing/practicing their routines.

The dress rehearsal is held outside of the studio so the dancers can get used to utilizing a big space because all of the competitions take place at H.S. gymnasiums. This is also an opportune time for the dancers to get used to an audience, so it's not a frightening experience at competition. Thanks for your support!

Competition Fee #2 is due

The next competition fee is due Monday, March 2nd and is $16.00. This is for the April 25th competition at Taylorsville High School.

I am very excited for our first competition on March 21st at S.L.C.C. All of the dancers have been working very hard on their dances. I hope they find it to be a fun and exciting opportunity to perform for their friends and family, get some feedback from the judges and win an award.

Tights & Shoes

Barbara will be ordering tights which you can purchase from the studio. That way we will all have the same color tights. As far as the shoes go, if the store gives you an option of light tan vs. dark tan - you want the dark tan.

Dance History

Candace began dancing at the age of 10. She took jazz classes from a private studio in her neighborhood for four years. She was a member of the Dance Company in both Junior High and High School. She attended the University of Utah and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. She was the Vice President of the U of U Crimson Line Dance team for four years. The Crimson Line performed at football and basketball games, all over the Western United States and Japan! Candace was a dance instructor for National Dance Alliance where she taught children all over the United States in jazz, hip-hop, tap, ballet, lyrical and pom. Candace coached the West Jordan High School Drill Team for two years. She choreographed their prop routine that took 1st place at Nationals and their jazz routine that took 2nd. Candace danced for the NBA's Utah Jazz for four years. As a Jazz Dancer she learned over 50 dances a season from many well-known choreographers in the music industry. Candace has taken several classes in Los Angeles and New York. She judges private dance competitions as well as tryouts for professional teams and school teams. Candace has been teaching at Utah Artists School of Ballet since the fall of 2006.
