Split Test!

Since August all of the jazz classes have focused on two goals: flexibility and technique.  I've really focused on everyone having the proper form while stretching so they can get the most out of it.  We started in August holding the splits for 1 minute and then 2 minutes in September and 3 minutes in October and November.  Even though not everyone is flat in their splits everyone has improved greatly and is closer than ever!  I'm proud of their dedication and hard work towards this goal.  We've also spent a good portion of class on technique.  Jazz class isn't all about just learning dances to compete with, all of the girls have come a long way with their leaps, jumps, kicks and turns.  Once the technique is there it makes learning dances so much more fun because then you can really execute all of the moves.  I see the improvement in your dancers and I hope you do too.  And most importantly, they're having fun while learning and becoming more successful at this beautiful art of dance.  Congratulations to those of you have flat splits!  We'll do this again in the spring time - so keep working on them.

Music Suggestions

A couple of you have already given me song/artist suggestions for next years routines and I greatly appreciate it.  The hardest part of my job is finding a good, fun, clean songs to choreograph to.  So if you have any suggestions please post a comment.  If you want that song for your class let me know which class you're in.  Thanks!  Hope you're all having a wonderfully "rainy" summer!

IMPORTANT CHANGE

Walking on Air - plan on being at the competition at 7:15am - our performance time is now scheduled for 8:00am.  The doors do not open until 7:00am and I will need 15 minutes to check in our music.  Please come completely ready so we take the 45 minutes to stretch and rehearse.  See you then!

WALKING ON AIR COMPETITION TIME

We are scheduled to perform at 8:35am in the auditorium. That means you must be there at 7:35am!! Yippee!! Sara Larsen I know you're supposed to be to the Conference Center at 9:30am - but we had our rehearsal last night and they don't even let you into the building until your scheduled time of 10:00am - so you only miss out on the standing and waiting around, if you plan on leaving straight from the competition. I hope this works out for everyone because it is now set in stone. See you Saturday, bright and early!!
